In a Spring/Summer state of mind

Happy New Year!!

I have been meaning to post for the past couple of days, sorry just had a lot going on.

A couple of days ago it was 56 degrees in Chicago, which is unheard of in January. But now reality has set in and we had our first snowstorm and along with it freezing temperatures.

So all this cold is making me dream of warmer temperatures and I thought this would be a perfect time to share with you my latest collection for Spring Summer 2012. Yes Spring is still several months away, but hopefully these bright and bold prints will put you & me in a warmer state of mind.  The collection will be available on the online store in March, but if you can’t wait till then send me an email to modahnik@gmail.com.

Would love to know what you think of the new collection.

As always thanks for all the support!

Heshima Kenya Fashion Challenge Recap

Kelley of K-Fleye Designs wearing my designAs mentioned on an earlier post, myself and 9 other up and coming Chicago fashion designers were able to be apart of the Heshima Fashion Challenge; which took place July 26th at Room 1520. It turned out to be a huge success! Participants of the challenge were given a scarf, and were asked to transform that scarf into a wearable piece. I came up with the dress you see in the picture on the left. My friend and wonderful jewelry designer, Kelley of K~FLEYE Designs was my model for the event. The Fashion Challenge was held to support and create awareness for the development of the Maisha Collective, a project of Heshima Kenya. Congrats to the Fashion Challenge winner, Jade Nguy, and the Audience Choice winner, Miriam Carlson. To learn more about Heshima Kenya, check out their website: Heshima Kenya , and see more photos of the event at Melissa Hayes Photography. You can also bid on the designs here: Fashion Challenge Silent Auction.
